How fuel delivery works
Running out of fuel usually happens somewhere inconvenient — a highway shoulder, a parking structure, or a stretch of road with no station in walking distance. Fuel delivery solves it by bringing the fuel to the vehicle rather than making you carry a can back to it.
The quantity delivered is an emergency amount intended to get the vehicle to the nearest station under its own power. It is not a tank fill, and it is not a cheaper way to buy fuel.
Fuel type accuracy is the single most important detail in the request. Putting gasoline into a diesel engine, or diesel into a gasoline engine, can cause serious and expensive damage. Confirm which one your vehicle takes before you submit the request.
Emergencies come first. If there is a crash, injury, fire, or you are stopped somewhere unsafe in live traffic, call 911 before requesting roadside assistance.
When to request fuel delivery
- The tank ran dry and the engine has stopped or is sputtering.
