What a roadside tire change covers
A flat can be a slow leak found in a parking lot or a sudden loss of pressure at speed. Either way, driving on a deflated tire destroys the sidewall quickly and can damage the wheel itself, so the tire needs to come off before the vehicle moves again.
Roadside tire assistance swaps the flat for the spare carried in the vehicle. It is not a tire repair and it is not a replacement tire — no new tire is brought to the scene.
Many modern cars no longer carry a spare at all. Instead they ship with an inflator kit and sealant, or run-flat tires designed to be driven a limited distance at reduced speed. Check your trunk or under-floor compartment before requesting the service, because without a usable spare there is nothing to fit.

If the vehicle is on a narrow shoulder in live traffic, the safest option may be to stay clear and involve law enforcement.
Wheel damage may end the job
If the wheel or suspension is damaged, or the spare will not seat, the vehicle needs a shop rather than a roadside change.
