Because there is no plan to check, the failure mode of memberships — discovering at the roadside that your coverage lapsed, or that this vehicle is not the one on the policy — does not occur.

When a membership is still better

If you drive a high-mileage older vehicle, tow a trailer, cover long rural distances, or have already needed help several times this year, a plan may be cheaper overall and can include long-distance towing benefits that on-demand services do not.
